Web Panels
The most significant innovation and growth for our customers is realized with the Saia®Web Panels. These are panels with web browser functionality and very attractive pricing.
The core element of the Saia®S-Web concept is the web server which is incorporated into the operating system of all new Saia®PCD CPU's. The web panels and other devices with integrated web browser (e.g. PC's, PDA's...) can access the web pages stored in the CPU's via various networks (Ethernet, serial, modem, Profibus).
The web pages that visualize the process as well as the alarms and trends are configured with the versatile and efficient Saia®S-Web-Editor, which is seamlessly integrated into the PG5 Controls Suite. No HTML or Java know-how is required, the desired functions are configured using an attractive GUI.
In the Saia®S-Web concept there is no need for costly runtime licenses. Only a standard web browser like the Internet Explorer and a free of charge Java Virtual Machine are required to control, visualize, setup and maintain installations.
More information regarding this topic can be found in the flyer "Web technology - Driving innovation in control and monitoring" and in Chapter 5 of the system catalogue (Control Systems).
PLC based Terminals
The PCD7.D1xx and PCD7.D2xx lines are fully functionally integrated in a Saia® PG5 project. These terminals are driven with the IL instruction set of a Saia® PCD PLC/DDC CPU. For this reason, they are referred to as 'PLC-based' terminals. To simplify project planning and programming, the Saia® PG5 Controls Suite includes a Saia® HMI editor. This provides an easy, efficient way of creating, simulating and testing control/display functions. Since the new Saia® PCD CPUs have increasingly greater power reserves available for HMI tasks, and since users want ever more easy ('because wysiwyg') and efficiency to implement display and control functions together with the controller in one project, PLC-based terminals are in a period of strong growth.
