Boards and software components
Our position on these value-added steps starts with the development and production of electronic boards and software components. Currently, our most important software component is the real-time operating system: Saia® NT.OS. Its kernel and framework were developed by us in 2002 and 2003, working with Philips and Nokia in the context of a European research project. Since then, this operating system has continued to grow in function and scope through our own developments (see also link AutomationServer).

Control devices
The boards are integrated with mechanical parts and connection technology in devices marketed at prices between 20 and 2000 Euros. Delivery volumes range accordingly from a few hundred to several hundred thousand pieces per year.

Control systems
Only a system can provide the solution to an automation task. For this, devices are combined with components and integrated within an automation environment via communications systems.

The development of our own basic systems, such as S-Web and S-EnergyNet, has made very powerful system solutions possible for our customers, while ensuring the highest performance reliability and low engineering costs.
System development and system tests are of great importance to us. They enable us to save costs for our customers and help them avoid difficulties during operation. 

Control solutions
Saia-Burgess Controls is not a «Solution Provider». Application solutions – in the sense of ready-to-use control and automation systems, including the application program, switch cabinet, actuator and sensor technology, etc. – are the job of our system integrators. We never go into competition against our customers.

We concentrate on the three value-added steps below this one: «Control systems», «Control devices» and «Boards & software components». For series applications, we will also work actively within the project team to create a solution, if we are asked. But we never take over control of a solution from the customer.

Our focus is always on making our partners successful, using all our know-how, devices and systems.
