New generation SaiaPCD1
brings web and IT technologies to the world of small controllers

PLC + Web + IT = SaiaPCD is the underlying formula beneath the basic concept of Saia’s third generation of control devices. With the new, compact, modular SaiaPCD1, Saia-Burgess has now applied this successful formula even to its smallest series of control devices. The kernel of the SaiaPCD1 is a small, low cost piece of PLC hardware whose flat form of construction saves mounting space. With 17 multifunctional I/Os on board, a watchdog and up to 2 GBytes industrial memory, it has been developed and manufactured in accordance with the quality criteria of the industrial hardware standard IEC 61131-2.
The web and IT part has been implemented as an AutomationServer (www.saia-pcd.com/Automationserver). This can be accessed via the standard provision of Ethernet interfaces (integral switch), USB port and an RS485 interface.
Protocols supported are: http, FTP, SMTP, SNTP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, PPP and Modbus. Optional communication is also possible via CAN and Profibus for the factory automation world and via LON, BACnet, KNX/EIB, EnOcean, M-Bus and MP-Bus for the world of building technology.
This can be achieved through modular expansion of the basic SaiaPCD1 with up to 4 communications boards. Apart from USB and Ethernet, a maximum of 6 additional serial interfaces are possible on modular SaiaPCD1 small controllers. It is also possible to integrate an analogue or ISDM modem. Two of the integral extension slots on the SaiaPCD1 can also be used for traditional electric signal interfaces. A choice of over 60 different I/O modules is available for this purpose. When expanded to the maximum, the SaiaPCD1 has 50 local I/Os on board.
