Peace of Mind: testing and assessing building automation solutions
In 2009, Saia-Burgess Controls Ltd developed vendor-neutral tendering modules for the planning phase of building projects. These “Peace of Mind” preliminary tender specifications will in future let clients define the requirements for building automation solutions in clear, neutral terms. The aim of Peace of Mind tendering is to systematically minimize potential trouble, worries and overall costs across a full life cycle of over 15 years.
On behalf of operators and investors, Saia-Burgess is now taking the “Peace of Mind” guarantee mark for building automation solutions one step further (www.pom-automation.com ): In collaboration with the German Association for Technical Inspection TÜV SÜD, for the first time a standardized, efficient procedure is being developed to test and assess the sustainability of installed building automation technology. The aim is to verify and evaluate the extent to which Peace Of Mind specifications from a tender have in fact been realized in the implementation phase. TÜV SÜD will be the first company that is allowed to test and assess building automation solutions according to Peace Of Mind rules with complete independence and neutrality.
Depending on the results of assessment, bronze, silver or gold test plaques are awarded, along with the standardized test report. This means that the quality of a building automation solution can be documented not only in the building’s technical documentation, but also in the visible technical area. This test and assessment system applies equally to all the usual makes of automation technology on the market. Alongside new projects, the current stock of a system can also be inspected.
